Commonwealth Soccer League, Inc. (CSL) was established in 1997 and is the greater Fredericksburg area's only outdoor adult soccer league. CSL is a registered member of the MDCVSA, USSF, USASA, and FIFA. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life and growing soccer within our community.

LOCAL SOCCER NEWS

FRIDAY, APRIL 4 & SATURDAY, APRIL 5: Come out and see what should be some of the best high school girls soccer action in the area this spring. CSL is partially sponsoring this event which begins on Friday at Chancellor High School: 6 p.m.--Courtland vs. Hidden Valley; 8 p.m.--Chancellor vs. Cave Spring and continues on Saturday at Courtland High School: 1 p.m.--Chancellor vs. Hidden Valley; 3 p.m.--Courtland vs. Cave Spring. Courtland, Cave Spring and Hidden Valley all reached the VHSL Group AA State Final Four in 2007. For more information, click here! 

 

CSL PARTIALLY SPONSORING YOUTH PLAYER: CSL is partially sponsoring local player David Salazar as he travels with the VYSA 93 Boys team to Costa Rica this spring. David is the son of Jorge and Penny Salazar. Jorge has participated in CSL since its inception. David and his sister Crystal, both also play at Courtland High School where David is a freshman and Crystal is a sophomore.  

 


2008 SCHEDULE: The Lady Gunners' W-League and Gunners' Premier Development League schedules have been released. The Lady Gunners have moved to a new division for the season. They enter the Atlantic Division where they will open the season on Saturday, May 24 at home against the Washington Freedom (site & time TBD). The Gunners will open at home against the Rhode Island Stingrays on Sunday, May 11. Go to www.fcfred.com for their complete schedule.

TRYOUTS: If you are interested in a tryout with F.C. Fredericksburg for its Premier Development League (Gunners) and W-League (Lady Gunners) teams. Read below for details:

TUESDAY, NOV. 6 (3:55 p.m.) -- The CSL Division Finals were played on Sunday, Nov. 4 at Loriella Park in Spotsylvania. There was a couple upset wins and a lot of good soccer action. Folowing are the results:

SATURDAY, OCT. 27 (7:09 p.m.) -- GAMES ARE ON! -- The games scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 28 are still on. The fields are a bit muddy, but no worse than how we've played on them at times in the past.

  

FRIDAY, OCT. 26 (4:18 p.m.) -- 7v7 GAMES POSTPONED -- The CSL 7v7 Coed Rec games scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 27 at Spotsylvania Middle School have been postponed due to wet field conditions cause by the steady heavy rain the past three days. ALL SUNDAY, OCT. 28 games are still ON AS SCHEDULED as of right now. BUT be sure to check the CSL web site regularly between now and your game time for any updates. Teams are reminded to stay off ALL CSL fields when games are postponed or risk possible fines and/or team sanctions!!

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 24 (5:29 p.m.) -- The Fall 2007 regular-season awards have been finalized and the winners can be viewed by clicking on the "History" link at the top of this page.

 

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 24 (4:35 p.m.) -- The  discipline page has been updated for this weekend's semifinals. Be sure to check back before this weekend's games for any changes. There may be some additions to the suspended list due to an incident that occured at one of the games this past weekend. To view the list, click on the "Discipline" link at the top of this page.

MONDAY, OCT. 22 (6:05 p.m.) -- SCHEDULE FINALIZED -- The schedule for this Sunday, Oct. 28 has been FINALIZED. We've done the best would could to make changes based on team requests, but due to circumstances beyond CSL's control the changes listed on the "Schedule-Page2" page of the site are the best we could do. Please view the most recently updated schedule by clicking on the "Schedule-Page2" link at the top of the page.

 

MONDAY, OCT. 22 (4:15 p.m.) -- There have been some schedule changes made for this Sunday, Oct. 28. Please click on the "Schedule-Page2" link at the top of the page to keep updated. THERE MAY BE A COUPLE MORE CHANGES, BUT THEY WILL BE POSTED NO LATER THAN THE EVENING OF TUESDAY, OCT. 23. CHECK BACK REGULARLY UNTIL THEN FOR ANY FURTHER UPDATES.

  

SUNDAY, OCT. 21 (9:16 p.m.) -- The Semifinals are set for all three of the Open divisions. The final standings are also posted and can be viewed by clicking on the "Standings" link at the top of the page. TUESDAY, OCT. 16 (2:36 p.m.) -- The 2008 Spring Registration letter has been posted and can be viewed by clicking on the "Registration" link at the top of the page.  

MONDAY, OCT. 15 (11:56 a.m.) -- The playoff match-ups for First and Third Division teams are set and have been updated on the "Schedule-Page2" page.

SUNDAY, OCT. 7 (11:38 p.m.) -- Both the Upper and Lower Bracket Marino Cup Champions were crowned today. LOWER BRACKET: In the first game of the day, Second-Division Napoli broke open a close 2-1 game late to get a 5-1 win against Third-Division FCS Fury. Douglas Garcia of Napoli was names the game's MVP. UPPER BRACKET: The second game came to an end in dramatic fashion after ending regulation in a 0-0 tie. Real International earned the title with a goal from game-MVP Florencio Martinez two minutes before the final whistle of the second golden-goal overtime period. SATURAY, OCT. 6 (11:10 p.m.) -- There is currently something wrong that is causing us to be unable to enter updated scores on the "Schedule" page. Hope to  have it figured out as soon as possible. The schedule that is posted is correct!!!... Just can't enter in updated scores.

 

SATURDAY, OCT. 6 (11:06 p.m.) -- The Marino Cup Finals are set for the Upper and Lower Brackets. Click the "Marino Cup" link above for a schedule and updated results.

FRIDAY, OCT. 5 (7:47 p.m.) -- The Marino Cup Lower Bracket Semifinal game between Napoli and Lee's Hill Soccer Club has been cancelled and will be considered a 3-0 forfeit win in favor of Napoli. Napoli now advances to the Sunday, Oct. 7 Lower Bracket Final.

FRIDAY, OCT. 5 (12:00 a.m.) -- The "Discipline" page has been updated and is current for this weekend's games on Saturday, Oct. 6 and Sunday, Oct. 7. For purposes of Marino Cup competition this weekend, rosters with updated information on suspended players will also be provided at the fields with the referee.

MONDAY, OCT. 1 (5:26 p.m.) -- The "Discipline" page has been updated with cards from games playes on Sunday, Sept. 30. It will be updated AGAIN on Friday, Oct. 5 after the CSL Drop Box at Fredericksburg Field House is checked for Red Card payments.

 

MONDAY, OCT. 1 (11:40 a.m.) -- The 7v7 COed Rec games scheduled for this Saturday, Oct. 6 have been POSTPONED and rescheduled for Satruday, Nov. 3. Click on the "Schedule" link above for upadtes.

CURRENT LEAGUE NEWS

THURSDAY, MAY 8 (12:07 a.m.) -- CORNER FLAGS -- A reminder that all HOME teams must provide corner flags for their games. As of now, any home team that is found not providing corner flags for their games will be fined $50. 

THURSDAY, MAY 1 (1:05 p.m.) -- DISCIPLINE PAGE & SCORING -- The Discipline and Goal Scoring pages have both been updated through games played on Sunday, April 27. 

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 23 (12:44 a.m.) -- FINAL ROSTERS -- Final rosters are available for pick up at Fredericksburg Field House in the CSL Pick-Up Box located at the check-in counter. If you do not see the gray box on the counter, ask one of the people working for it. It should be in one of the cabinets behind the counter. *****YOU MUST PICK UP your packet before this weekends games because they will NOT be available at the fields. If you have an early Sunday game, you should pick it up before Sunday because the Field House may not be open in time before your game.***** 

TUESDAY, APRIL 22 (12:35 a.m.) -- MAKE-UP GAMES -- The schedule of make-up games has been posted and can be viewed clicking on the "Open Schedule" link at the top of this page. Due to the two rain-out weekends we've had, games will have to be played on Memoria Day weekend. ALL TEAMS will have to play this weekend, which is currently set up as the Division Quarterfinals, so that we can finish the season by the last available date we have fields.

SUNDAY, APRIL 20 (6:28 a.m.) -- All games are currently on as scheduled. There looks to be a line of thunderstorms that may come through so for now, decisions about playing games will be made at the field by the referees.

SUNDAY, APRIL 6 (3:27 a.m.) -- THE FOLLOWING CSL GAMES ARE POSTPONED FOR SUNDAY (READ CAREFULLY) -- The games scheduled for Old Mill Park Field #1 and #2 for 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. have been postponed. AT THIS TIME, ALL OTHER GAMES ARE ON AS SCHEDULED. SUNDAY, MARCH 30 (7:49 p.m.) -- Monarcas was caught using ineligible players in their game today against Aztecas United. Aztecas United have been awarded a 3-0 forfeit win and Monarcas has been penalized with a -1 point in the standings as per CSL P&R rules. This is reflected in the current posted Standings and Open Schedule. 

THRUSDAY, MARCH 27 (5:36 p.m.) -- PASSES & ROSTERS -- Rosters and any new player passes for each team will be available at the fields before your games this weekend. They will either be left with the referees or a CSL official will be there with them for you. Managers are advised to show up early to help and be orgainzed before their game starts. 

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26 (6:09 p.m.) -- DISCIPLINE PAGE -- The discipline page has been updated and can be viewed by clicking the link at the top of the page. There ARE players suspended for red card offenses for this weekend's games. 

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26 (5:33 p.m.) -- PLAYER REGISTRATION CLOSED FOR 3/29-30 -- Player registration for this weekend's games (Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 30) is closed as of 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25. All materials that were in the CSL Drop Box before that time were collected and will be ready for this weekend as long as all the proper materials were turned in. 

SUNDAY, MARCH 23 (10:09 p.m.) -- 7v7 SCHEDULE UPDATE -- The date for the first game on the 7v7 Schedule has been corrected to read Saturday, MARCH 29. Please review the schedule by clicking on the "7v7 Schedule" link at the top of this page. 

SUNDAY, MARCH 16 (10:56 p.m.) -- 11v11 OPEN DIVISION -- The CSL Spring 2008 11v11 Open Division schedule has been posted and can be viewed by clikcing on the "Open Schedule" link at the top of this page. 

SUNDAY, MARCH 16 (8:25 p.m.) -- 7v7 COED REC DIVISION -- The CSL Spring 2008 7v7 Coed Rec Division schedule has been posted and can be viewed by clicking on the "7v7 Schedule" link at the top of this page. 

SUNDAY, MARCH 16 (8:02 a.m.) -- At this time, all CSL games scheduled for today are on as scheduled. A determination will be made at the field before each game for whether games will continued to be played based on the field conditions.  

SATURDAY, MARCH 15 (9:47 a.m.) -- PASSES & ROSTERS -- Sorry for the late posting. All passes and rosters for this weekend's games will be available at the field. Check with the referees. 

TUESDAY, MARCH 4 (3:34 a.m.) -- The EDOB has decided to extend the deadline for teams to turn in their remaining teams fee. All remaining fees must be in the CSL Drop Box at Fredericksburg Field House by this Saturday, March 8 by 5:00 p.m. Any remaining team fees must be turned in by this time or the 10% late fee will be enforced.

MONDAY, MARCH 3 (3:19 a.m.) -- OPEN SCHEDULE -- The 11v11 Open Division Schedules have been posted and can be viewed by clicking on the "Open Schedule" link at the top of this page. 

MONDAY, MARCH 3 (2:56 a.m.) -- TEAM REGISTRATION CLOSED -- 11v11 Open Team Regisration for the Spring 2008 season is now CLOSED. Divisional alignment may be seen by clicking on the "Standings" link at the top of this page.

SUNDAY, MARCH 2 (1:32 a.m.) -- FINAL TEAM REGISTRATION -- CSL will be holding its final Team Registration meeting tonight from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Fredericksburg Field House. All teams MUST pay the remaining amount of their Team Registration Fee at this meeting. Those not paying their remaining fee will be assessed a 10% late fee on any fees that remain to be paid. We current have 15 teams and have a spot available for one more team. Any other teams registering after that 16th team will be put on a waiting list. If room is not available, those teams that were on the waiting list will have any fees paid to CSL refunded.

SUNDAY, MARCH 2 (1:15 a.m.) -- IMPORTANT NOTE -- COED 7v7 OVER-30 RECREATION DIVISION -- CSL's 7v7 division is still seeking teams for the upcoming Spring 2008 season. The division will have no more than 8 teams. There are currently 6 teams entered in the division. All games will be played at Fredericksburg Field House on it's outdoor field. A couple new rules have been introduced for the upcoming season: 1) The division has changed from over-35 to over-30; 2) Each team will be required to have 2 "designated players" on the field at all times. Designated players are defined as either: a) a female player; b) a player over the age of 50. At least one of these designated players MUST be a female. 

THURSDAY, FEB. 21 (6:20 p.m.) -- FINAL Player Registration Meeting -- CSL is holding its final player registration meeting this SUNDAY, FEB. 24 from 7-9 p.m. at Fredericksburg Field House. This meeting is the last where teams can turn in player pass materials and have it guaranteed to be ready for the first game. All player passes, associated paperwork and fees and rosters are due at this time. Any incomplete paperwork will be returned to the manager. Team Registration is also still due. At the least a $500 nonrefundable deposit is and Team Registration Form is due. SUNDAY, FEB. 10 (10:11 p.m.) -- Those teams registered as of tonight's meeting have been posted on the "Standings" page in their perspective divisions.

SUNDAY, FEB. 10 (3:03 p.m.) -- MEETING REMINDER -- The CSL will be holding it's first registration meeting for the Spring 208 season tonight from 7-9 p.m. at Fredericksburg Field House. The $500 nonrefundable deposit toward the team fee is due at this time in order to hold your team's spot for the season. Click on the "Registration" link at the top of the page for further meeting and due dates.

SUNDAY, NOV. 25 (1:08 p.m.) -- IMPORTANT 7v7 REC NOTE -- A new section has been added to the site in regards to the 7v7 Recreation Division. There have been some changes made to the division in hopes of helping to get more solid teams established and more players involved. The main change will be to the age limit for male players, which has been changed to 30 years old instead of 35. There are also other stipulations that have been added. PLEASE click on the "P&P 7v7 Rec" link at the top of the page.
